SPID (Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale, the Public System for Digital Identity) is Italy's national digital identity framework. It is overseen by AgID (Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale), and the identities themselves are issued by private identity providers accredited by AgID, such as Poste Italiane, InfoCert, Aruba, and Namirial. A single SPID login gives a person access to online services across public administration and participating private organisations.

To obtain a SPID identity, a person registers with an accredited provider and proves who they are using an Italian identity document and their tax code (codice fiscale), through methods such as in-person checks, a webcam session, an electronic identity card, or a digital signature. SPID supports three levels of assurance (SpidL1, SpidL2, and SpidL3), with higher levels requiring stronger authentication.
Verification runs over the SAML 2.0 protocol. The person authenticates with their SPID credentials at their chosen provider and consents to release the requested attributes, such as name, surname, and codice fiscale, to your service. A verified result and an audit record then flow into your Zenoo case.
The customer logs in with their SPID credentials at their accredited identity provider and consents to share their verified attributes with your service.
The identity provider returns a signed SAML assertion with fields such as name, surname, date of birth, and codice fiscale, at the requested level of assurance.
A verified result and a full audit record flow straight into your Zenoo case.
Chain these into one Zenoo Studio flow so a single journey handles identity, screening, and fraud.
SPID is one scheme in Zenoo's global coverage. Add a neighbouring register or a document fallback without changing your integration.

SPID is overseen by AgID, the Agency for Digital Italy, but the identities are issued by private identity providers accredited by AgID, such as Poste Italiane, InfoCert, Aruba, and Namirial. A person can hold a SPID identity from any accredited provider.
SPID supports three levels: SpidL1, SpidL2, and SpidL3. Higher levels require stronger authentication, so a service can request the level that matches its risk and regulatory needs.
It runs as a pre-built connector. The person authenticates with SPID and consents to share their attributes, and Zenoo returns a verified result with a full audit trail.
