What is Smart-ID Login?

Smart-ID is an app-based electronic identity solution operated by SK ID Solutions, an Estonian trust service provider. It is widely used across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania for logging into e-services, authenticating, and signing documents, and it also runs in Belgium. Unlike card-based eID, Smart-ID works on a standard smartphone or tablet, so no SIM card or card reader is needed.

Smart-ID conforms to the EU eIDAS regulation and supports the highest level of assurance. It is recognised as a Qualified Signature Creation Device, which lets users sign documents with a qualified electronic signature. To hold a Smart-ID account, a person must have an Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, or Belgian national identity number, registered through their ID card, Mobile-ID, passport, or a bank.

Verification asks the person to authenticate in the Smart-ID app by entering a PIN. Once they confirm, their verified name and national identity number are returned to your service, so you can confirm you are dealing with the right person.

How verification works

Person authenticates in the Smart-ID app

The customer opens the Smart-ID app on their phone and confirms the request with their PIN. No physical ID card or card reader is needed.

Identity confirmed by SK ID Solutions

Smart-ID validates the authentication and returns the person's verified name and national identity number.

Signals returned to your flow

A verified result, the returned identity data, and a full audit record flow straight into your Zenoo case.
