FranceConnect is France's national federated identity system, operated by the interministerial digital directorate (DINUM). Rather than issuing its own credential, it lets people sign in with an account they already hold, such as their tax (Impôts), health insurance (Ameli), La Poste digital identity, MSA, or France Identité account, and reuse that verified identity across public and private online services.

Verification is built on OpenID Connect. The person chooses one of their existing identity providers and authenticates with it. FranceConnect then returns a set of pivot identity data (given names, family name, date of birth, place of birth, and gender) to your service on the person's consent, so they do not re-enter or re-prove their details.
A higher-assurance route, FranceConnect+, uses identity providers verified to the eIDAS substantial level (such as La Poste's Identité Numérique) for sensitive procedures. This gives a stronger identity guarantee where the use case demands it.
