What is eID.li?

eID.li is the official digital identity of the Principality of Liechtenstein, run by the Office for Informatics (Amt für Informatik) as part of the national administration. It lets residents identify themselves and log in to government and private online services from a smartphone. Credentials are issued by the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz after a one-off in-person or video identification check, so the digital identity is tied to a verified holder.

Verification runs through the eID.li mobile app. When the person logs in, the app produces a short-lived code that is entered in the web form, and the login is then confirmed in the app by password or by biometrics such as fingerprint or face recognition. On a successful check the scheme returns verified attributes including given name, family name, and date of birth.

eID.li has been notified under the EU eIDAS Regulation at the Substantial level of assurance, so it is recognised for electronic identification across EU and EEA member states. It is available to Liechtenstein citizens and to registered foreign residents.
